Bernadette Pelissier, chair of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, was recognized by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Pelissier received the 2011 Chair’s Award for Public-Private Partnership at the chamber’s annual meeting.
“Since her election to the Orange County Board of Commissioners, chairwoman Pelissier has prioritized economic development and reached out to the chamber and treated us as an important partner,” Marc Ponds, past chair of the chamber, said. “We appreciate how she worked to earn the chamber’s support for the quarter-cent sales tax, listening to our concerns and helping adjust the proposal in a way we thought best served the needs of our business community. Commissioner Pelissier reaches out when she has questions and invites chamber feedback and partnership.”
