Deep Dish Theater holds comedy developmental workshop

Deep Dish Theater will present a developmental workshop of a new comedy by Eric Pfeffinger. The workshop will run from Wednesday, Jan. 11, to Sunday, Jan. 15. Directed by Artistic Director Paul Frellick, the workshop continues the company’s 11th season at University Mall.
The play, "Hunting High or Glory Halleluiah!," is a dark comedy set in North Carolina. An odd foursome, at least one of whom may well be a fugitive abortion clinic bomber, meet at a high school reunion. Originally commissioned by the Signature Theater in Arlington, Va., and a semifinalist for the O’Neill Conference, "Hunting High" explores the obligations of belief and the ease with which political violence can start to seem like a valid lifestyle choice.
The workshop will be presented with minimal production values and script in hand, as the text continues to evolve. Audience members will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on the play in post-performance conversations, and actors will be incorporating rewrites throughout the five-performance run.
Performances begin Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. All tickets are $12. Call (919) 968-1515 for reservations and visit www.deepdishtheater.org for information. Deep Dish is located in Chapel Hill's University Mall, on Estes Drive and US 15-501.
The Deep Dish Theater Company is committed to presenting compelling, human-centered dramatic work that contributes to the cultural richness of the Triangle area and challenges audiences to explore concerns of the community and the world-at-large.
